Introduction 

Total station is an electronic and optical surveying instrument used in modern surveying that combines the angle measuring capabilities of theodolite with an EDM capability in to a single tool.
                                                   It consists of combination of electronic theodolite, EDM and software running on an external computer,with this device,angle and distance from the point to be surveyed can be determined. It can maintain considerable accuracy and is hence used for many public works  such as construction of roads, airports and harbours.
